Responsible for collection, abstraction, and data entry of trauma patient information in the NTRACS Trauma Registry of Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Identified and performs data collection, abstraction and entry of all trauma patients accurately. Assigns all ICD10CM, ICD10PCS and AIS codes into the Trauma Registry. Supports the registry requirements for verification as a Level 1 Trauma Center by the State of Tennessee, National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB), Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQTIP) and America College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACS). Trauma Registrar is responsible for managing and maintaining a trauma registry database, collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to patients who have suffered traumatic injuries. **Key Responsibilities:** + Data Collection and Entry + Data Analysis and Reporting + Quality Assurance + Compliance **Duties Include:** Collection/abstraction of 300+ data points and entry into the NTRACS Trauma Registry database on all trauma patients admitted to VUMC and MCJCH as a Level I Trauma Center. + Data Management- data integrity, reports, and data presentation + Anatomy and Conditions of Injury + Coding and Scoring Concepts + Registry- NTDB, State(s), and internal registry + Communicates with department staff including physicians, managers, nursing staff, process improvements, and research coordinators. Participates in validating 5-10% of Registry data entry, tracks inconsistencies, and educates co-workers as needed. + Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments by participating in: + Taking monthly TQIP quizzes and reports + TQIP Open Forum webinars. + Participates in registry-specific coursework and continuing education courses per year, and meetings and activities. + Data Entry and Reporting + Abstracts data and performs data entry by determining the appropriateness of patient entry, within timelines of quality measures (=/>95) and discharge requirements. + Codes diagnose and hospital procedures ICD10 and enter into the Trauma Registry + Submits trauma data to the registry, databank, and various Level 1 Trauma centers. **Qualifications:** **Education:** + Certificate in Medical Coding + Abbreviated Injury Scale - AIS 15 + 2 National Registry Certificates **Skills:** + Proficient in Excel + Proficiency in data entry and management + Strong analytical skills, + Attention to detail + Able to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals. **Schedule:** Monday - Friday business hours, primarily remote, Our professional administrative functions include critical supporting roles in information technology and informatics, finance, administration, legal and community affairs, human resources, communications and marketing, development, facilities, and many more.
