The APP Lead is a role that exists only for Inova Service Lines. The APP Lead is charged with optimizing daily function of and care delivery provided by Apps. The role serves as the direct supervisor for front-line APP providers in a Service Line.
Job Responsibilities
Clinical resource for all direct-report APPs
Liaison between APPs, nursing, physicians, and other providers
Ensures appropriate scheduling and staffing is maintained and escalates staffing needs in an appropriate and timely manner
Provides guidance on quality and safety initiatives and promotes psychological safety among all APPs
Develops and implements process improvement plans with particular focus on delivering quality, safe, and efficient care
Critically evaluates care delivery structures and plans
Identifies educational opportunities and ensures appropriate delivery of structured opportunities
Works alongside physician director on initiatives and committees and ensures appropriate representation and participation in unit or practice level committees
Identifies opportunities for APPs to participate in research
Appropriately communicates needs to manager and provides strategic input on solutions
Ensures effective and positive communication to individual APPs and colleagues
Ensures onboarding process is in place and followed
Provides valuable feedback to APP manager for yearly evaluations
Ensures APPs maintain appropriate competencies associated with DOP necessary for maintaining clinical privileges
May perform additional duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Certification - Basic Life Support upon start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (for Pediatrics) upon start
Licensure - Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances)
Experience - 3 years as Advance Practice Clinician
Education - Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post-masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing; For Physician Assistants: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
