Traveling Onsite Surgical Equipment Repair Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY

A Traveling Onsite Surgical Equipment Repair Specialist primarily works independently at customer sites, hospitals, and clinics, to provide assessment of hospital inventory,  cost-effective maintenance on company and customer owned medical equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and meets the customer’s needs. You will travel extensively to perform operational verification, inventory audit, which may include preventive maintenance, and corrective repair service. You will complete all associated documentation and customer communication in a timely manner.   Travel assignments include proposal underwriting review, special projects, new customer onboarding, staff training and possible coverage where needed to support customer needs.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees key account service delivery, revenue retention, and growth.

·

      

Increases revenue by selling additional onsite services and associated send-in work.

·

      

If underserviced, seeks to increase throughput for service on COG/surgical assets and/or sell additional lines of onsite services. If overserviced, works to manage consumption based upon the terms of the agreement.

Develops trusted relationships with customer’s teams and facilitates open communication.

·

      

Collaborates on proposal development and development of maintenance programs using company methods and models.

·

      

May perform operational verification, preventive maintenance, and corrective repair service.

·

      

Completes all associated documentation and customer communication in a timely manner.

·

      

Inspects and tests general surgery instrumentation to determine serviceability and condition for repair.

·

      

May disassemble malfunctioning equipment and remove, repair, or replace defective parts.

·

      

May facilitate repair and maintenance transactions for providers including pick-up, delivery, quotation communication, repair status monitoring, and delivery of completed repairs.

Coordinates periodic review of company performance with customer leadership.

·

      

Keeps records of maintenance, parts, and repair and/or serialized inventory and repair history.

·

      

Supplies timely, accurate and complete information to facilitate customer billing.

·

      

Inspects and tests general surgery instrumentation and/or serialized inventory to determine serviceability and condition for repair.

      

May perform preventative maintenance on instruments such as cleaning, lubricating, or adjusting.

Uses a laptop to enter billing information and to communicate with home office and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

·

      

Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record

·

      

High School Diploma or GED.

·

      

3 or more years’ experience performing surgical instrument repair and service.

·

      

Experience in a hospital or clinic setting.

·

      

ISO 13485 knowledge helpful.

·

      

OSHA/safety training beneficial.

·

      

Vision Requirement – good close vision and color vision.

·

      

Applicants should be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as emergency off hours as required and travel extensively.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

·

      

Excellent customer communication skills and a professional image.

·

      

Efficiently able to manage workload to complete scheduled services while working in an unsupervised work environment.

·

      

Willing to travel extensively to support business needs and objectives.

·

      

Ability to regularly sit on work stool, stand, bend, and make precise coordinate movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble very small objects.

·

      

Ability to safely drive a box truck or sprinter style vehicle.

·

      

Basic computer skills.

·

      

Ability to use digital calipers, grinding wheels, soldering irons, sand blasters, Dremel style tools, torches, and test equipment that will require good hand-eye coordination to execute tasks is preferred.

·

      

Excellent interpersonal skills in establishing and maintaining relationships.

·

      

Ability to self-motivate and realign priorities quickly.
