Treasury/Chief Investment Office Risk Management – Business Manager - Senior Associate

As a Senior Associate within the Business Management team, you will serve as a key advisor to both the department’s Chief Risk Officer, as well as the broader management team. The role of a Business Manager is dynamic and varies according to the priorities of the business. You will be instrumental in optimizing business performance by promoting and driving key firmwide, Risk Management and Compliance and internal management initiatives. This is a high-profile, fast-paced role which is crucial in assisting and advising senior management, as well as coordinating the deployment of the bank's corporate resources to meet strategic and tactical objectives. In this role, you will supervise several finance and business management professionals globally. Your ability to communicate effectively, think strategically, and problem-solve will be crucial to your success in this position.

CTC Description:

The Firm’s Corporate Treasury function and the Chief Investment Office (together referred to as “Treasury/CIO” or “CTC”) manage the Firm’s balance sheet. This includes activities such as:

Deploying the Firm’s excess liquidity Managing the Firm’s funding and liabilities Managing the Firm’s structural interest rate and foreign exchange risk Managing the Firm’s liquidity risk and its regulatory compliance Managing the Firm’s capital risk and its regulatory compliance

CTC Risk manages the risk of the retained portfolio generated from the Chief Investment Office, Global Treasury, and other Corporate businesses (Firm-wide Pension Plan, Insurance programs, and Mortgage Servicing Rights) including Market Risk, Credit Risk, Reputational Risk, Country Risk, Principal Risk, and Model Risk. CTC Risk is also responsible for the end-to-end management of the Firm’s Liquidity Risk, Interest Rate Risk, and Capital Risk. The CTC Chief Risk Officer (CRO) reports to the Firmwide CRO.

Job responsibilities

Support the CTC Chief Risk Officer across numerous strategic priorities, including budget and financial reporting, executive content and driving the department’s adherence to firmwide processes. Work closely with the broader management team and department heads to help achieve firmwide and RM&C business objectives. Produce data-driven analyses to help facilitate management decision making. Provide a high level of responsiveness to executive ad-hoc requests related to Board Risk Committee and Line of Business Risk Committee reporting/coordination, internal team management and senior management business updates. Organize detailed and complex information in a strategic and compelling way, demonstrating strong design acumen and expertise in Excel and PowerPoint techniques. Manage projects and promote the department’s adherence to firmwide control and governance processes, including Business Resiliency, New Business Initiatives, Inter-Affiliate Services (IAS) and select Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) matters. Participate in collaborative firmwide and global initiatives, with the objective of continually simplifying, improving, and adding value to existing business processes. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, building strong relationships across the organization’s key stakeholders including the broader Risk Management and Compliance organization, controls, Finance, Communications, HR.  Drive agendas for internal management team meetings, Town Halls, employee recognition and various team activities.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Bachelor’s degree and experience in a strategic or similar role within financial services, risk management, compliance, legal or executive-level communications and business management. Sound judgment, professional maturity and personal integrity, strong work ethic, proactive and results-oriented.  Excellent organizational, time-management, as well as communication skills (both verbal and written). Strong technical and analytical skills, including intermediate to advanced level ability in all MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Pivot Tables). Proficient in distilling data and information into clear, conclusive presentations. Detail-oriented individual with the ability to work well under pressure, handling multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously. Candidate must have a “no job is too small” attitude, while at the same time being able to think strategically, delivering to conclusion key priorities across multiple groups. Ability to build strong partnerships with colleagues, desire to learn quickly, be flexible and think strategically. Proven ability to lead a team and display strong, empathetic leadership capabilities.  Position is based in New York City, but there is flexibility for the position to be located in London
