Job Description

General Description:

Treasury Operations is the center of excellence, with in-depth knowledge of banking payment and collection infrastructure and processes. Treasury Operations is responsible for providing support and subject matter expertise to all North American business units and Group functions including Reinsurance, US, Canadian and Wealth & Asset management, to support the full array of operational activities including cheque deposit and payment, incoming and outgoing wire transfers and ACH, payment exception handling and cash forecasting & positioning. 

This Treasury Operations Technical Expert role is primarily responsible to support Treasury Business Solution (TBS), BOM and any activities that involve system interfaces including doing all kinds of system setups, triaging PROD issues, reaching out to different parties for resolution, escalating things where applicable. This role will also support the execution of various initiatives for NA Treasury Operations that will promote Easier, Better and Faster business-as-usual operations. This role will work with Treasury Operations Management Team in streamlining BAU processes through application of in demand technology tools (Alteryx, PowerApps, PowerBi, etc.).

Treasury operations department processes more than fifty-three million (53M) transactions each year, with value exceeding two trillion, six hundred billion dollars (2,6 trillion) across twenty-nine (29) banking partners and more than eight hundred (800) bank accounts; and administers Manulife’s fourteen billion, eight hundred thousand dollars (14.8B) liquidity pool. 

                                                                                                                                                           

Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Treasury Operations Technical Consultant, the Treasury Operations Technical Expert is primarily responsible in supporting production activities for Treasury Business Solutions (TBS), Bank Operations Management (BOM) and any Treasury activities that involve system interfaces. Responsibilities include the following:

Operational Support:

Act as Kyriba Subject Matter Expert (SME), assisting the Treasury Operations Technical Consultant in building/developing Kyriba knowledge of our onshore/offshore resources.Can act as primary backup for Treasury Operations Technical Consultant during BCP scenarios supporting both offshore and onshore teams.Ensure that all Service Level Agreements and compliance standards are always met in the execution of daily operations.Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service by proactively promoting client centricity.Act as the point-of-contact who will monitor the planning, implementation and tracking of any short-term projects or streamlining / process re-engineering initiatives of the team.Support Ad Hoc analysis to identify root cause of production problems and develop timely solutions.Effectively communicate critical production updates and challenges to Treasury Operations Management in a timely manner.Support user training in Infor and/or Kyriba payments hub for new business units users or treasury operations staff.Work closely with team leads/managers onshore/offshore to continue driving process improvements related to Infor, Kyriba or manual processes.

                                                                                                                                                          

Education and Experience:

Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance or related area.CTP or another treasury/finance related certification.  Knowledge of treasury operations and cash management is required. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of Project Management Software

3-5 years’ experience in a large and/or complex organization handling time critical or sensitive processes. 

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

Strong Tech-savvy Skills with aptitude to learn various systems and understand how things interface and relate across systems, including data flows.Exposure to the Cash Management industry / treasury systems a definite asset.Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at various levels of the organization and the ability to negotiate and implement change.Demonstrated influence and negotiation skills.Knowledge of Manulife’s business areas and systems preferred.Ability to manage multiple high priority initiatives.Strong organizational/planning, time management and prioritization skills.Independent and proactive; detailed and task oriented.Proven problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to analyze and provide solutions to complex and unique situations.Strong research and documentation skills.Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office including Advanced Excel skills and working knowledge of MS Project.

                                                                                                                                                          

Problems/Challenges:

Treasury Operations processes and tasks must be completed in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment under strict controls and policies mandated by the organization.To mitigate the risk of financial loss to the organization, there is a zero-level tolerance for error. This can be challenging in an open and busy work environment.There is a requirement to work on Canadian-only statutory holidays on a rotation basis and occasional work outside normal business hours.
