General Functions:
The Recovery & Reentry Treatment Team Peer will be an integral member of the Recovery & Reentry department. The Treatment Team Peer is responsible for being a peer role-model through lived experience in recovery and overall wellness by providing support and encouragement to Recovery Services and Reentry participants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Treatment Team Peer I:
Be a role model for wellness and recovery for participants.Provide direct peer services, motivational interviewing, community living skills, social, and emotional support to participants within Recovery Services programs to assist in regaining cultural identities, balance, and control of their lives.Develop responsible and appropriate relationships with participants.Under the Treatment Team Peer Supervisor's guidance, promote and provide peer support programs, community support meetings, and social media awareness within Recovery & Reentry Services and surrounding communities.Promote and assist with the participant’s self-directed recovery and cultural identity through groups, meetings, and individual sessions.Document participants' progress within the electronic health records, including all peer support individual and group services, per Recovery & Reentry Services policies and procedures.Maintain schedules in Carelogic to accurately reflect time spent with participants and performing other tasks assigned.Maintain an active awareness of the cultural and recovery services that are available in the state of Alaska. Provide resources by conducting needed peer support and linkage services to alumni and active participants across the continuum. Provide support to all Recovery & Reentry Services programs, structures, policies, and philosophies.Maintain appropriate training and certifications as outlined in Recovery & Reentry Services’ policies and procedures and those designated by the supervisor.Work with other Treatment Team Peers in scheduling and facilitating culturally appropriate peer support meetings.Understand and use trauma informed techniques while engaging participants and assisting with the overall treatment.Understand and use Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques while engaging participants and assisting with overall treatment. Attend staff meetings and work collaboratively with staff during participant case-staffing regarding transitional and discharge planning needs.Facilitate individual peer support services as needed for active and alumni participants of Recovery & Reentry Services programs.Facilitate open peer support meetings and community events.Attend and participate in staff meetings and individual supervision.Transport participants, both individually and in groups as needed.Maintain confidentiality according to regulations and procedures.Perform all related duties as needed and assigned.
Treatment Team Peer II:
Provide summaries and feedback on outreach, peer support activities, and participant services to Treatment Team Peer Supervisor.Provide summaries to Treatment Team Peer Supervisor on all groups or meetings, guest speakers, and collaborations within CITC and outside organizations.Provide peer support under Recovery & Reentry Services programs and grants in outside organizations in partnership and collaboration. Facilitate groups and work closely with Treatment Team Peer Supervisor and clinical supervisors to integrate groups and meetings across Recovery & Reentry Services continuum.Facilitate planning meetings for peer support community events and delegate duties as necessary to ensure coverage needs are met.Maintain confidentiality according to regulations and procedures.Perform all related duties as needed and assigned.
Treatment Team Peer III:
Assist Treatment Team Peer Supervisor in coordinating peer support for all Recovery & Reentry Services programs.Support Treatment Team Peer I & II staff by answering questions, providing guidance, and making recommendations related to the provision of care.Work with Treatment Team Peer Supervisor to develop culturally relevant and recovery centered peer led group curriculum with goals and objectives. Assist Treatment Team Peer Supervisor in coordinating outreach, peer, and community events.Assist Treatment Team Peer Supervisor, as necessary, to facilitate necessary training(s) for peer staff per policy.Maintain confidentiality according to regulations and procedures.Perform all related duties as needed and assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Treatment Team Peer I:
High School Diploma or GED.Lived experience in addiction recovery as well as one (1) year continuous recovery prior to hire and active and continuing participation, and ability to speak to, what keeps you well and in active recovery.Approved State Peer Certification through Alaska Behavioral Health Certification Board certification (Peer Support Professional I or Traditional Peer Support Professional I).
Treatment Team Peer II:
Associate's degree in human services or related field. Relevant work experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis or demonstrated proficiency in the competencies of a Treatment Team Peer I. Lived experience in addiction recovery as well as two (2) years continuous recovery prior to hire and active and continuing participation, and ability to speak to, what keeps you well and in active recovery.Approved State Peer Certification through Alaska Behavioral Health Certification Board certification (Peer Support Professional II or Traditional Peer Support Professional II).
Treatment Team Peer III:
Bachelor's degree in human services or related field. Relevant work experience may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis or demonstrated proficiency in the competencies of a Treatment Team Peer II.Current access to all DOC facilities and continue to remain in compliance with all State of Alaska requirements associated with having access to correctional facilities.Experience in residential or outpatient substance use treatment and mutual aid (A.A., N.A., etc.) preferred.Lived experience in addiction recovery as well as three (3) years continuous recovery prior to hire and active and continuing participation, and ability to speak to, what keeps you well and in active recovery.Approved State Peer Certification through Alaska Behavioral Health Certification Board (Peer Support Professional III or Traditional Peer Support Professional III).
Minimum Requirements for all Levels:
Valid Alaska driver’s license and be insurable under CITC’s automotive insurance, which requires a driver to be at least 21 years of age and have had a driver’s license for at least three years.Continued employment is contingent upon a satisfactory state and federal background check, and approved NPI status with state approval as a Qualified Addictions Professional (QAP).
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and/or drive for varying durations throughout the shift.
