Great American's Trucking Division offers a nationwide program that specializes in insuring the unique exposure of the For Hire Trucker. This progressive program focuses on the owner operator and small fleet markets. We're proud to serve the long haul trucking industry with insurance products, services and exceptional claims handling dedicated to the success of the Owner-Operator.
We are accepting resumes for Trucking Claims Internship candidates starting employment in Summer 2025.
Responsibilities:
In the Trucking Division, interns will work on meaningful assignments and gain exposure to a variety of claims functions, including claims handling, coverage analysis, and investigation. For an even broader perspective of the business, interns will have the opportunity to meet with individuals who work in the other various functions within the group and upper management.
Responsibilities will include:
Participate in special projects within the claims and subrogation groups as assigned.
After initial training complete coverage analysis, first contact, investigation, resolution strategy and letter writing on claims assigned.
Work with the operations team to learn how claims are reported and assigned within our division.
Learn and perform functions utilizing the various claims systems, programs, and databases.
Various reading assignments, self-study courses, and case studies on a diverse range of topics, providing a foundation of claims and general insurance knowledge.
Participation in seminars and workshops, including Claims College and Great American University offerings.
Networking:
Trucking Claims interns participate in activities with other interns, employees, and leaders throughout the organization. In addition to the on-the-job learning that takes place, interns also attend lunch-and-learns to further develop their business knowledge.
Qualifications:
Proven leadership skills through work experience (prior internship/co-ops a plus), campus involvement, or extracurricular activities.
Superior communication, analysis, planning, and organizing skills.
Self-motivated, as the nature of the internship may have virtual aspects or self-directed projects.
Current students in a bachelor’s degree program in a wide range of majors are encouraged to apply, with Insurance & Risk Management course work a plus.
Attention to detail including experience working in spreadsheets, database management, and other information technology platforms.
