We are seeking a TT&C Engineer to work on our Customers Site (ESA-ESTEC) in the Netherlands. This is a fantastic opportunity to get into one of the most sought-after space agencies in the world.
This position involves working on TT&C and radio relay systems for space missions, including designing, analyzing, and testing onboard equipment like transponders in UHF, S, X, or Ka bands. It also covers communication systems for near-Earth and commercial satellites, focusing on equipment such as spread spectrum transponders in S, C, X, and Ka bands.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs a TT&C Engineer you will concentrate your activities on the following:
Work on TT&C (Telemetry, Tracking, and Command) and inter-orbit communication systems for near-Earth and deep-space missions. Design, analyze, and test communication systems and onboard equipment (e.g., transponders operating in UHF, S, X, Ka bands). Support mission analysis and address TT&C-related issues. Participate in the Concurrent Design Facility activities. Study and develop new techniques and technologies for telecommunications systems. Perform simulation and lab testing of TT&C systems and equipment. Develop technical requirements, statements of work, and contribute to standardization efforts (e.g., ECSS, CCSDS). Support ESA projects from initial concept to launch preparation. Provide technical support for the development of TT&C equipment and subsystems. Prepare and maintain project documentation and progress reports. Successful CandidateDo you think you are the person we are looking for? See below what experience or knowledge you should bring:
Master’s degree in communication or electrical engineering, or equivalent. Experience in designing telecommunications systems with strong knowledge of modulation and demodulation techniques. Proficiency in simulation tools and familiarity with satellite TT&C systems (near-Earth and/or deep-space). Understanding of radio equipment technologies, such as VLSI, ASIC, MMIC, and related tools (e.g., VHDL). Knowledge of encryption, secure communications and optical telecommunication systems. Hands-on experience with RF equipment (e.g., antennas, LNAs, receivers, SSPAs, TWTAs). Skilled in assembling, operating, and testing telecommunications equipment. Ability to design, build, and test analog and digital breadboards. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
