**Description:**
Ensure proper reporting to all organizations that the cancer data is submitted for tracking purposes. Retrieves data from medical records for research projects and prepares qualitative and quantitative analysis. Collaborates with physician and ancillary department personnel to ensure appropriate documentation, which supports the diagnosis and procedures.
**A. Education:**
Certification as Tumor Registrar (CTR) required. Associates degree preferred.
High school graduate with coursework in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology.
**B. Experience:**
Experience in NQMBC certifications preferred.
Experience in NAPBC Certifications preferred.
**C. Special Qualifications:**
Interpersonal skills to communicate and interact effectively with Medical Staff and other health care personnel when compiling data for coding and record completion.
Experience and clinical skills to determine completeness of medical records and interpret the content of the record: laboratory results, pathology/cytology/hematopathology reports, knowledge of medical terminology, pharmaceutical terminology, radiology reports and disease processes in order to code and abstract required data.
