**Position Summary:** Manage cancer patient databases, recording information that may be used to help detect cancer earlier, improve treatments and increase survival rates. Examine medical and pathology records to determine patient eligibility for the cancer registry. Make abstracts of medical records by translating the medical terminology into standardized codes that record the patient's diagnosis and treatment information. **Essential Functions and Responsibilities:** 1. Abstract cancer-related data according to e stablished p o licies and pr oc edures includin g : summarizing patient’s records , demographi c data , d iagnosti c proc e d ures , dat e o f diagnosis , histologica l diagnos i s and treatment. 2. Assign codes fo r treatments, procedures and diagnoses a c c o rding to appropriate class i fication systems such as: ICD-9-CM ; ICD-10-CM ; ICD-O ; America n Colleg e o f Su rgeo ns Commissio n o n Cance r (ACo S CoC ) Guidelines; F a cilit y O n c o l ogy R eg i s tr y D a t a S t an d a r ds (FOR DS ) ; A m e ric an Joi nt C o mm i ss io n o n C an c er ( A JC C ) Tum or , Nodes , Metastasi s (TNM ) & Collaborati ve Staging/Coding; and Surveillance of Epidemiology and End Results ( S EER ) g u ideli n es. 3. Perfor m dat a e n tr y utilizin g specialize d soft wa re. 4. Maintain compliance with Cancer Regis t r y relate d policie s a nd procedures. 5. Contac t patients , provider s an d registrie s t o gathe r follow-up infor m ation and v e rif y o r corre ct patient information. 6. Manage clinical d o cumentati o n requirements r e lated to regulatory r u les a nd regulations. 7. Prepare reports and forms as directed and i n accordanc e wit h establishe d policie s . 8. Compile reque s ts for data and statistics from the Cancer Registry f o r facility planning, administrati o n and internal department r e quests according to established policies and procedures. 1. Prepares statistical reports, narrative reports and graphic presentations of tumor registry data for use by hospital staff, researchers, and other users of registry data. 10. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; participate in professional societies. 1. Perform other related duties as required and directed. **Qualifications:** _Required:_ + AssociateDegreein health-related field orequivalent workexperienceofat least twoyears orwith strongemphasis on data integrityandanalysis. + Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) within two(2)yearsof employment . _Preferred:_ + Current Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR). + 1 year of CTR abstraction experience in a CoC Accredited Cancer Program. * Bachelor’s degree in health information management or a related field.
