Underground Project Coordinator

 

Position Description:

To manage the execution of underground projects from approval to handover to operational groups. 

 

 

Responsibilities:

Complete Barrick project submissions for all UG projects Enforce compliance to all applicable environmental, health and safety Acts, policies and  procedures and ensure that all workers work in the manner and with the protective devices,  measures and procedures required.  Ensure all hazards are reported and addressed in accordance with relevant procedures and  appropriate remedial actions implemented in a timely manner.  Perform physical inspections to determine if work meets company standards in regards to  quality, production and safety.  Complete operational checks monitoring quality and productivity ensuring established  standards are met.   Anticipate and implement solution to problems that may occur in the execution of projects through  trouble shooting and problem solving.  Implement and adhere to all company policies and directives.  Optimize the use of project materials and labour to minimize cost Actively participate in the Continuous Improvement activities to improve all areas of  the mine.  Ensure that these activities are aligned in the same direction as the company.  Identify Continuous Improvement opportunities. Ensure that all service contractors have the competencies and qualifications required to work safely  and productively within the areas of responsibility, and that they understand and comply with  the requirements of their position description.  Inspect project sites throughout the UG, to ensure contractor adherence to company procedures, guidelines and any relevant government legislation.  Maintain proper working relations between mine department with all other departments  including contractor relationships Communicate with Manager, Supervisors, Departments and other employees to review  direction, resolve problems, recommend priorities and corrective measures to ensure timely execution of projects.  Ensure objectives and targets are effectively communicated to project crews. Assure that the highest standards of Environmental and Safety performance are adhered within your respective purview.   Ensure that all workers work in a manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations of this Company.   Apply operational discipline and monitor compliance to MOC processes.  Enforce operational standards  Do not walk past any deviation to standard and action all non-compliances immediately.  Liaise with Department Superintendents regarding the progress from approval to handover 

 

 

Qualifications:

Mining Engineer or equivalent relatable degree or experience is an asset PMP designation considered an asset.  2 years or more of project management experience is an asset Sound understanding of Ontario mining regulation and statutory responsibilities  Strong communication and leadership skills  Excellent time management and project execution skills Deswik/CAD experience in design
