**JOB SUMMARY** :
Under the direction of the Vice President of Shareholder Services, the UIC Foundation Director is responsible for managing the UIC Foundation, a non-profit entity established to provide scholarships, grants, and other services and opportunities to help UIC’s shareholders and their families thrive, including but limited to achieving their education and development goals. The Director will be responsible for overseeing the Foundation’s operations, fundraising efforts, and strategic initiatives aimed at supporting the educational aspirations of UIC shareholders and their descendants. This position is based at the Corporate Headquarters in Utqiaġvik, Alaska.
**Responsibilities**
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:**
Leadership and Strategy:
+ Provide visionary leadership in alignment with the Foundation's mission and values and ensures the Foundation’s goals are met.
+ Work with the Foundation Board to develop and implement an updated strategic plan that strengthens existing scholarship programming, while expanding to new areas that provide shareholder opportunities and support.
+ Serve as the primary spokesperson for the Foundation, representing it to stakeholders, donors, and the public.
+ Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including UIC leadership, shareholders, educators, and community organizations, especially within Utqiaġvik and the North Slope region.
+ Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness within the Foundation and its programs.
+ Promote awareness of the Foundation’s mission and achievements through media, publications, and community outreach.
+ Deepen and refine all aspects of the Foundation’s communications – from web presence to external relations to create a stronger brand.
+ Work diligently in achieving goals in the UIC Foundation Strategic Plan.
Administration and Management:
+ Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of Foundation staff.
+ Supervise department staff, coordinate efforts to achieve department deliverables and corporate strategic initiatives, and develop and implement policies and procedures.
+ Ensure that the Foundation’s team is aligned with its mission, and cultivate a positive, collaborative work environment.
+ Perform a variety of duties associated with the coordination and development of scholarship and grant programs including the award of disbursements.
+ Provide information to students regarding financial aid program requirements and procedures.
+ Provide exemplary customer service by going the extra mile for our Shareholder and Shareholder Descendant recipients.
+ Provide comprehensive administrative support to the UIC Foundation Board, including scheduling meetings, preparing agendas, assisting in running meetings, preparing timely and accurate meeting minutes, and maintaining Board records.
Fundraising and Financial Oversight
+ Lead the Foundation’s fundraising efforts, including identifying and cultivating major donors, grant opportunities, and partnerships.
+ Develop and execute fundraising campaigns and events to meet annual financial goals for scholarships and educational programs, grants, and additional shareholder support opportunities.
+ Aggressively fundraise for the UIC Foundation, including event planning as well as presenting to and developing relationships with targeted potential donors.
+ Identify and pursue appropriate grant opportunities through state, federal, and private agencies and organizations. Ensure grants are administered according to award terms.
+ Maintain strong relationships with existing donors and identify new sources of funding.
+ Ensure sound financial management and stewardship of funds raised by the Foundation.
+ Budget development for department, administer and control expenses within budget.
+ Work with the Foundation’s finance team to prepare and manage the annual budget, ensuring compliance with all financial regulations and IRS requirements for 501(c)(3) organizations.
+ Maintain accurate financial records and provide regular reports to the Board and Executive Management on the Foundation’s financial status.
Knowledge & Critical Skills/Expertise:
+ Must have a strong knowledge and understanding of the Iñupiat culture.
+ A comprehensive understanding of ANCs and their responsibilities to their shareholders.
+ Strong leadership, project management, organizational, and time management skills.
+ Excellent interpersonal; oral and written communication skills.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; and internet applications.
+ Knowledge of nonprofit governance and compliance, particularly for tax-exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3).
+ Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people, including donors, community members, and stakeholders.
+ Passion for education and commitment to advancing the success of Iñupiat individuals and their communities.
+ Demonstrated enthusiasm and vision for shareholder and community development.
+ Effective work interaction with a wide range of constituents and audiences.
+ Ability to build and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with superiors, peers, and subordinates.
**Qualifications**
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:**
+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
+ Four years of administrative experience with at least one year of experience involving shareholder relations, budgeting, supervisory experience, or a combination thereof.
+ Experience with grant writing and fundraising is preferred.
+ Proven success in fundraising and donor relations, particularly in a philanthropic or educational setting is preferred.
+ Experience of comparable value may be substituted for the education requirement.
**Additional Job Requirements:**
+ Valid driver’s license.

**Work Environment & Conditions:**
This position is based in Utqiaġvik, Alaska, with some travel within Alaska and infrequent travel in the Lower 48 as needed. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require frequent standing and walking. The work environment is usually moderately quiet.
