Position SummaryAt Crawford, we pride ourselves on being able to offer a full range of services, including specialist environmental consultancy services. These types of services can range from contamination resulting from land-based oil spills, land quality assessments for developers and infrastructure projects to environmental regeneration and renewable energy projects. No two projects are the same and require detailed technical investigation & assessment, design, monitoring and validation. This role is an ideal opportunity for an experienced geo-environmental consultant or environmental scientist to become part of a successful team.
General Background, Experience & Professional QualificationsYou’ll ideally come from a similar insurance background, but we welcome applications from experienced Geo-Environmental Scientists or other environmental specialists, who are looking for a varied and rewarding career within the environmental sector. You’ll also have/be:
A degree in a relevant subject such as; geology, physical geography, environmental science or other geo-environmental discipline and, ideally, be a member of a relevant professional organisation.An MSc in a relevant subject (beneficial but not essential)A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in managing environmental pollution incidents or completing geo-environmental site investigations and land quality assessments. Possess knowledge and experience of remediation technologies for contaminated soil and groundwater, a working knowledge of industry best practice guidance (e.g. CLR11, LQM/CIEH and BS10175, BS10176, BS5930) and have strong skills in the development and updating of conceptual site models.Ideally, have working knowledge of detailed quantitative risk assessment software with respect to risks relating to groundwater contamination (desirable, but not essential)Possess the ability to work in a team and also demonstrate the drive and self-motivation to work independently, with minimal supervision.Possess the ability to take ownership of and manage projects to meet deadlines and project budgets.Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate via clear and prompt written and verbal communications to colleagues, clients, contractors, regulators, and other consultants.Be competent and diligent in the production of technical reports to a high standard, that are commercially focused and to meet challenging deadlines.Demonstrate a good degree of flexibility and possess strong organisational and time management skills.Be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft applications.Hold a full UK driving licence Key Responsibilities Leading and supervising project management of environmental insurance claimsLiaison with all stakeholders including clients, contractors, and homeowners.Undertaking site investigations to determine the extent and severity of impact resulting from contamination incidents and assessing environmental risks.Logging of soils during investigations to a high standard and in accordance with published industry guidanceManaging, planning and delivering of site investigations, remediation design, monitoring and validation works.Supervision and mentoring of field scientists, including technical direction, management of cost appraisals, quality, health and safety and client managementDirecting and monitoring of subcontractors, ensuring their competence to complete tasks and within agreed costs and timeframes.Scheduling and interpretation of field and laboratory dataProduction of interpretive environmental reports, including conceptual site models and quantitative risk assessments in-line with industry best practice.Demonstrating a commitment to ensuring consistently high levels technical robustness, commercial awareness, organisation, and customer satisfactionParticipating in business development activities as a technical advisor and managing key clientsWriting high standard reports which are technically sound and commercially focused Options Apply for this job onlineApplyShareEmail this job to a friendRefer Sorry the Share function is not working properly at this moment.
