Ukraine Business Development Advisor (Consultancy)

Habitat for Humanity International is looking for Business Development Consultant.
The Ukraine Business Development Advisor is ultimately responsible for development and implementation of strategies to grow corporate, Foundations, Organizations and Institutions (FOI) and internal resources to support Habitat’s mission / strategy in Ukraine. The function will engage in donor pre-positioning & relationship development, proposal development, donor engagement and in developing a diverse donor data-base. Reporting to the Habitat Ukraine Chief of Party, the Ukraine Business Development Advisor will also work closely with Habitat network peers, including fundraising & resource development functions across Habitat’s global network to maximize business development opportunities arising within the network.
Essential Deliverables:
1. PRE-POSITIONING and DONOR PIPELINE: (25%)
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders in Habitat’s network – namely Global Foundations, Organizations and Institutions (GFOI), Resource Development (RD) and Global Funding Network (GFN ), and Habitat’s tithe team, providing guidance on opportunities to pursue
• Strategically engage & communicate with Corporate and private donor prospects and FOI donors with an interest in Ukraine
• Utilize standardized Habitat tools, and appropriate approaches to tailor documents for different types of donors. notably: proposals, grant applications, presentations, project information, etc.
2. ACQUISITION and EXECUTION: (50%)
• In the identification of specific funding opportunities, liaise closely with the HFH Ukraine Program team and HFH network partners.
• Lead/coordinate identified proposal opportunities, ensuring consistent high quality writing and submissions.
• Liaise closely with HFH Ukraine Program team and resource mobilization / fundraising counter-parts to heavily engage in donor forecasting
3. ACTIVE DONOR PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT and STEWARDSHIP: (25%)
• Support the Ukraine program team and Habitat regional teams to maintain donor relationship management, and to provide strategic oversight and support for existing donors.
• Foster new strategic partnerships, cultivating relationships with prospective donors, and expanding the organization’s funding base.
• Collaborate with project teams on reporting, compliance, and ensuring high-quality deliverables in alignment with organizational priorities, and coordinate with GFOI Senior Director Grant Manager
• Liaise closely with the Program team / UKR Program Manager and CoP, ensure reports are submitted on time and of appropriate quality.
Minimum Requirements:
Educational background
• A Master’s degree in International Development, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
Experience
• At least 10 years of experience in fundraising, business development, donor relations, ideally in the humanitarian or development sector.
• Experience working with international organizations, donors, and government officials.
• Successful track-record in applying for and securing large institutional and/or corporate grants, and demonstrated capacity to develop comprehensive resource mobilization strategies
• Expertise in pre-positioning and networking and establishing successful relationships leading to pipeline growth.
• Familiarity in post-conflict or development settings is a plus, especially in Ukraine or
post-Soviet context
• Familiarity with the funding priorities, processes, and compliance requirements of key donors such as USAID, EU, EBRD, UN agencies, and private foundations.
Technical Knowledge:
• Understanding of innovative financing mechanisms, such as blended finance, public-private partnerships, or micro-loan programs (Desirable).
• Understanding of donor priorities in terms of integrating social inclusion and gender into program analysis, design, monitoring and evaluation (Desirable)
• Ability to oversee and support the development of high-quality donor reports, ensuring compliance with donor guidelines and organizational standards.
Skills:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal and presentation skills in English.
• Disciplined; perform well under pressure and capable of balancing priorities to meet deadlines.
• Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Computer literate; able to use word-processing, spreadsheet, database, and project communication software e.g., Microsoft TEAMS for global information sharing and knowledge management
Travel
• Willingness and ability to travel to Ukraine whenever required to support program operations, donor engagement, or other critical tasks.
Contract arrangement
• This is a 6-month contractor/consultant arrangement, with an agreed number of days engaged (between 60 – 90).
• This function can be completed remotely, with targeted travel to Ukraine.
