Position Summary: The Diagnostic sonographer utilizes high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques for medical diagnosis.
Education, License & Cert: High School Diploma or equivalent required with additional ultrasound training completion from a JRCERT approved program. approved school (two) years with certification or completion of an approved training school.
Experience: Minimum of three months preferred.
Essential Functions: 1. Performs the scanning examination requested by the referring physician, modifying the examination, depending on the findings demonstrated, and review the examination with the supervising radiologist. 2. Assist the radiologist or the clinician in special procedures. 3. Performs routine equipment checks for resolution and other quality control procedures, as necessary. 4. Must be able to react quickly to emergency situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady while getting on to the scanning table. If unsafe situation occurs (such as fire), getting patient to safety and sounding alarm. Ability to work alone and get job done in efficient manner. 5. Provides for patient's modesty, comfort and privacy.
Other Duties: 1. Travel for this position is sometimes required. 2. Maintain inventory of department. 3. Demonstrates willingness to accept non‐routine work assignments, as appropriate. 4. QC's all images and patient information in the Radiology system. 5. It is understood that this description is not intended to be all‐inclusive and that other duties may be assigned as necessary in the performance of this position. 6. Obtains sterile instruments, as needed, may clean and re‐sterilize them as needed.
