Job Summary
Responsible for performing ultrasound examinations for high-risk pregnancies.
Responsibilities
• Assist the MFM physicians with invasive procedures, such as amniocentesis, perform fetal echocardiography
• Perform fetal studies, genetic sonography, and prenatal procedures
• Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients. Report changes in patient condition to medical staff. Provide an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist.
• Evaluate quality of sonograms. Determine if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated. Maintain patient records in division.
• Charge procedures and supplies.
• Archive and de-archive ultrasound data.
• Orient new ultrasonographers; provide education and training to new sonographers.
• Coordinate scheduling and patient flow.
• Collaborate in quality control of equipment and filming and obtains service as required. Proficient in the performance of ultrasound procedures. Provide direction and instruction to existing personnel and training to new sonographers.
• Assist in teaching of ultrasound technology to new physicians, residents, and fellows.
Assist the medical staff in development of new ultrasound techniques and protocols.
• Participate in ultrasound research practices within radiology and with other hospital disciplines (medicine, surgery departments).
• Act in a team leader or leadership capacity on an as needed basis.
• Ensure correct charging of ultrasound procedures and supplies on a daily basis.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.

Education
• Formalized Training (Required) Education: Formalized Training must be AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine or Completion of Ultrasonography. Experience: 2 Years - High-risk OB Procedures. Competent in all Fetal Studies, Genetic Sonography and Prenatal Procedures

• ARDMS OB/GYN CERTIFICATION
