Ultrasound Lead-New Pay Rates

The Ultrasound Technologist Lead is responsible for independent operation of Ultrasound imaging equipment and performing diagnostic examinations. Leads the daily operations of the Ultrasound Department, patient scheduling, equipment maintenance and quality assessment. Demonstrates skills and knowledge in use of all ultrasounds, MRI equipment and performance of all protocols and procedures. Demonstrates technical proficiency in producing high quality exams within the appropriate length of time for procedure. Provides technical guidance to staff technologists and is directly responsible for the overall quantity and quality of procedures that are being performed.

Day to Day

GENERAL DUTIES

Leadership/Supervisory Skills:

Supervises the Ultrasound area and performs imaging exams as required to assure the efficiency of the delivery of services.Assures that adequate staffing is available to provide quality, timely services.Maintains quality by providing feedback to subordinates while distributing work as expediently as possible.Participates in meetings concerning the Radiology department.

Policy and Procedures:

Assures that all clerical functions are carried out efficiently and helps as needed to the departmental personnel.Performs all Ultrasound procedures within scope of knowledge and qualifications.Selects and operates equipment as directed.Assists physician with exams.Assists in the diagnosis of disease by consulting with radiologists.Assists in performing first aid when necessary.

Quality and Safety:

Performs daily equipment checks, troubleshoots equipment, and documents any equipment downtime.Performs quality control checks routinely on all imaging for their respective shift and subordinates.Ensures compliance with all safety regulations to guarantee protection of patients, staff and visitors.Practices sterile technique and prevents cross contamination.Adheres to OSHA standards by donning required personal protective equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe working environment.

Patient Experience:

Encourages understanding, cooperation by preparing the patient before, during and after procedures.Offers emotional and physical support working together with the medical team attending on children.

Must Haves
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

Required: 3 years of Ultrasound Technology experience in a clinical/hospital setting.Preferred: Associates or Bachelors in Ultrasound Technology, Clinical Radiology, or equivalent.
