What You Will Do:

Pleasantly greets patients, introduces self, confirms patient identification, and explains procedure in a manner that can be understood. Prepares trays, needles, contrast media, and all other supplies for exams. Performs all ultrasound techniques and examinations, including vascular, abdominal, breast, retroperitoneal, obstetric and gynecological imaging, and other anatomical areas as required. Prepares room, equipment, and supplies as needed for patients.  Prepares patient for exam, explains procedures, transfers patient to table, positions patient, and assists patient at the end of the procedure. Lifts, moves and transports patients via wheelchair or cart. Positions patients as needed for exams.  Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Selects and operates equipment as directed. Observes patient and machine during procedure and reports unusual occurrences, records, and patient condition, if indicated. Able to utilize hospital computer systems (HIS/RIS/PACS) to retrieve information, review images, verify data, and perform order entry. Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients. Stocks ultrasound department with supplies as needed. Reports to proper personnel any malfunctions of equipment. Consults with others to obtain a complete clinical history; gathers and documents pertinent clinical data. Identifies problems and communicates appropriately to Lead Ultrasonographer. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations. Participates in community outreach screenings. Performs mobile vascular/studies as needed.  Is available for emergency call on a rotational basis. Assists Director and Lead Ultrasonographer in maintaining imaging protocols, as required, in accordance with ACR, ICAVL, and AIUM standards. Knowledge of the needs of patients according to their age group and the ability to modify care according to patient’s age. Technologist will most frequently care for adults and geriatric patients; and, on occasion, adolescents, children, infants, and neonates. Works in front office/file room as needed.

What You Will Need:

Must be RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Sonographer) registered in one or more sub-specialties.  Sub-specialties include OB/GYN and/or abdominal.  Additional specialties desired but not required.  Must be a graduate of a radiologic or ultrasonography program. Must be certified in CPR. Uses proper body mechanics.  Ability to push, pull, and/or assist in moving patient from carts, wheelchairs, or other transport devices onto imaging table/couch. Ability to physically position patient in order to acquire images or perform interventional or therapeutic procedures. Ability to maintain neat and orderly files and records. Ability to communicate and understand oral and written communication. Ability to communicate effectively with management, physicians, co‑workers and patients.
