Ultrasound Technologist
POSITION PURPOSE Performs routine and special diagnostic ultrasound procedures according to departmental and hospital policies. Operates and maintains all sonographic and ancillary equipment; assists with providing 24 hours a day, seven days. MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED Associate Degree:  Graduate of an accredited certification program in Ultrasound Technology or Radiologic Technology MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED 3 months – 1 year LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire. Ultrasound III shall include American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) registry in three or more disciplines:  Abdominal, Obstetrics, Breast and/or Vascular. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED Minimum of three (3) months of full-time Sonographer experience or equivalent. Ability to read, write, hear, speak and comprehend the English language fluently. PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES Operates ultrasound equipment associated with the performance of all ultrasound procedures, including portable, biopsies and emergency examinations. Recognizes and reports equipment malfunctions. Follows ACR and department policies in order to maximize image view quality. Assists with department coverage, including on-call hours. Assists the Radiologists and physicians with biopsies and cyst aspirations. Sets upon the exam room and utilizes sterile techniques. Operates teleradiology and ancillary equipment. Schedules appointments and instructs patient with regard to preparation instructions. Receives and records verbal orders from licensed independent practitioners for orders that are specific to the services provided by their department.
