Unarmed Security Officer - Mercy Health Lorain

This is a PRN "As-Needed" Position

Job Summary:

Performs duties under general direction, responsible for monitoring all areas of the hospital in order to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and associates.  Monitors parking facilities, pedestrian and vehicular traffic in accordance with hospital policy.

Job Functions:

Conducts periodic fire drills; routine safety inspections; fire prevention and checks of fire extinguishers.

Responds to all fire alarms (participate as a fire team member).  Follows all procedures as assigned.

Responds to all emergency situations in order to resolve any incident which could result in harm; call for any appropriate outside agency as necessary.

Maintains customers' rights (confidentiality, privacy, safety, security and decision making).

Interacts with customers who may include patients, physicians, coworkers and visitors in a manner that exemplifies the hospital's mission and core values.

Monitors and promotes compliance with all hospital policies (solicitation, smoking, parking lot patrol & visiting hours), securing entrances at designated hours.

Conducts investigation of all items reported lost and/or stolen.

Education: High School diploma or equivalent

Must possess valid drivers license.

Must complete certification in the Use of Force program , and crisis intervention, other training as required.

Preferred:

Certification(s):Certified in PPCT and handcuffing techniques.  BLS certified; 

3 years’ experience of in Law Enforcement, Military, or Correction.
