The role you’ll contribute:

The Uncertified Medical Assistant - under close supervision, provides appropriate care to patients as well as follows AdventHealth service standards. This includes safely and effectively greeting patients, obtaining clinical information, financial and demographic information. Responsible for assisting providers during treatment and examination and may assist with procedures and medication administration as ordered by the provider upon successful completion of necessary competencies. Performs office duties as needed; which includes but is not limited to, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays and scheduling necessary appointments.

Assist with screenings per physician orders and enters all information accurately and at the time of service or results

Performs clinical intake according to AHMG policy and procedures

May be responsible for assisting with minor procedures associated with specialty care

May be required to travel to satellite offices

Safety/Whole Care

Must maintain education requirements for position and demonstrate competency, as required

Responsible for maintaining OSHA regulatory enforcement and other office compliance

Follows safety processes and policies to ensure appropriate care is given

Provides and ensures patients receive whole care in all aspects of an office visit, regarding intake, test results, screenings, labs, medication administration, closure of care gaps and all aspects necessary following AHMG policies.

Efficiency

Ensures efficient office flow by preparing patient and equipment for the needed treatment and initiates testing and documents results into the practice’s designated system when appropriate.

Clinical competencies must be passed annually

May include written test

Must stay up to date and familiar with all policies

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Customer Service skills

High school graduate or equivalent

Must Apply for MA certification 12-14 months after hire

BLS/CPR certification is required within 6 months after hire.

Must have MA certification from an approved credentialing body within 18 months of hire.

Knowledge of health care field and medical terminology

Knowledge of and ability to utilize internal and external resources

Expertise in patient advocacy and navigating complex systems

Ability to function and assist others in stressful, fast-paced environments and effectively apply stress management techniques

Ability to resolve issues and work independently within their scope

Ability to exercise sound judgement, diplomacy and a professional demeanor

Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing and typing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively to carry out job requirements

Experience with computers, telephone, fax machine, copier, stethoscope, EKG machine, pulse oximeter, oxygen devices, wheelchairs, stretchers, scales, glucose monitor, and other patient care equipment necessary to perform required duties as appropriate to the scope of the practice
