The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) at Carnegie Mellon University is a world-renowned research and education hub at the forefront of natural language processing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interaction. Established within the School of Computer Science, LTI pioneers innovative approaches to understanding, processing, and generating human language in both written and spoken forms.

We are seeking to hire a paid intern. This role is to perform basic research towards data processing and data-centric modeling in the direction of language models, recommendation systems, and RAG.

Core Responsibilities Include:Conduct research projects aiming to understand the influence of data points and sources, and to produce agentic-based approaches to transform the data automatically for better AI modeling performances.Develop better data-driven methods the improve the efficiency and effectiveness of AI models.Conduct basic research and publish papers in top AI venues, as well as release open source artifacts including source codes, datasets, and model checkpoints
