Job Description

Safely and efficiently perform welding, general engineering and fabrication work as required to repair and maintain underground mining machinery.

Perform daily routine inspections, monitor and record the condition of ground engaging tooling and wear package materials on machinery attachments for all underground mining equipment.Carry out general welding repairs and light fabrication work on mining machinery and other plant and equipment as required.Replacement of ground engaging tooling.Monitor and record wear rates of wear package materials on buckets, blades and bodies and truck trays.Complete engineer’s reports on mining equipment during PM maintenance.Assess, plan and supervise engineering projects to be completed by contractors.Attending and assisting with breakdowns of the mining fleet and ancillary plant as required

QualificationsNational Certificate in Engineering - Fabrication (Level 4) or similar.5 years mining experience preferred.First Aid; forklift operations; overhead crane; rigging and slinging and work at height to relevant NZ standards, preferred though not essential/Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.Be familiar with the use of CMMS (computer maintenance management systems) for task / work-order generation and requisitioning of materials and resources.
