Underground Equipment and Technical Specialist

What You’ll Do

As the Underground Operations & Training Coordinator, you will support region management in operational support, training and coordination of underground sites and employees.  You will evaluate operations to identify opportunities for efficiency, quality, and standardization improvements to optimize employee safety and customer satisfaction., and implement procedures and policies to maintain employee engagement and customer confidence.. Other duties will include:

 

 

In cooperation with Regional Operations Manager, develop and maintain active underground equipment/asset inventory, maintenance schedule, and critical spares inventory

Act as OTS coach and trainer for underground employees and assist HSE with maintaining training records

Travel to various sites to troubleshoot, maintain and repair equipment with assistance of on-site personnel

Coordinate with sites for preventative maintenance inspections

Maintain focus on safety aspects of the operation, the customer, fellow workers and the public by following HSE rules and standards + SOPs + Explosives, TDG, WHMIS and OH&S regulations + company policies and by exercising due diligence and good judgment, particularly with respect to hazardous weather and road conditions, truck conditions, unloading conditions and the state of personal health.

Perform Safety Shutdown Testing (SSS) and equipment calibration

Provide effective administration and regulatory compliance by completing and submitting all documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

Report all problems, accidents, incidents, issues of concern and unusual occurrences to management without delay.

Coordinate with Region Operations Managers to ensure that initiatives meet a standard of improved customer delivery and safety results

Other duties as assigned

 

What We’re Looking For:

 

Bachelor’s degree with a technical focus.  An engineering discipline is preferred. Additional directly related work experience may be substituted for some of the educational requirements.

Minimum 5 years working experience in mining, construction, or industrial applications.

Experience with safety, regulatory and environmental compliance as well as quality, maintenance, and training systems.

Advanced people management skills including leadership, performance management and coaching.

Experience or familiarity with continuous improvement concepts such as LEAN or Six Sigma.

Experience with, or knowledge of, heavy trucks, equipment, manufacturing processes, electrical and hydraulic systems preferred.

Experience with bulk truck delivery and on-bench blasting operations preferred.

Strong understanding and acceptance of responsibility for compliance to relevant regulations.

Possess a valid driver’s license and passport .
