Coordinate the Gas Monitoring & Communications at Moranbah North Mine!

Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.
We are seeking an underground Gas & Communications Coordinator to join the team at Moranbah North Mine on a full-time, permanent basis with Anglo American. Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager (EEM), you will be accountable for providing effective, long-term planning and technical support using your specialist knowledge of underground gas monitoring and management practices.
As the UG Gas & Communications Coordinator your responsibilities are, but not limited to:
Coordinate the design, planning, procurement, commissioning and installation and maintenance of total gas monitoring systems for the site operations.Coordinate the design, planning, procurement, commissioning and installation and maintenance of communications systems for the site operations including, underground fibre optic networks and WIFICoordinate the design, planning, procurement, commissioning and installation and maintenance of Remote Reading Telltale systems for the site operationsProvide plans and technical input into the Maintenance and Engineering department to assist in driving the delivery of the mine’s performance targets and maximizing the value of the mine’s resource.Ensure Moranbah North’s assets support the business plan through; functionality, optimisation, and forecast lifecycle management.Develop effective relationships with our stakeholders including Process Coordinators to develop strategies, implement plans, monitor performance, and complete work activities in accordance with the MOS.Monitor performance against the plan and lead the maintenance and engineering team to identify the risks of delivering the plan.Personal commitment to the quality of maintenance delivered to achieve the site requirements for production and safety performance.Comply with all statutory requirements.Consistently apply Safety & Health principles in all site interactions and take full ownership for safety on site and in your work area.QualificationsElectrical Trade qualification and relevant tickets (Electrical License, EEHA, LVSR, Complex Isolator).Demonstrated supervisory experience within an underground coal mine is essential.Hold the Supervisor and Risk Management qualifications (S1, S2, S3 & G2).Experience with Ampcontrol Gas Guard Gas Monitoring systems is essentialExperience with MST Paging and tracking and WIFI Systems is desirable.Experience with Nome Remote Reading TellTale Systems is desirableAdditional InformationFull-time permanent position based at Moranbah North Mine7 on, 7 off rosterCompetitive salary package and annual incentive programsResidential, FIFO (company funded) & DIDO optionsSubsidised accommodation and company funded camp options availableRelocation Assistance availableMoranbah Healthy Lifestyle ProgramAnglo American company benefitsWhat we Offer
