Underwriter, Transactional Risk

KEY OBJECTIVE:              

As a key member of the Financial Lines underwriting department, you will have the role of developing and growing new business opportunities for Chubb’s Transactional Risk business in Canada. As such, you will play a critical role in the growth and profitability initiatives for this large specialty department.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:                                                                                                                                      

Risk selection, coverage negotiation and pricing adequacy for Transactional Risk business. Develop and establish relationships with key local brokers and clients, including conducting broker meetings, to ensure department goals and objectives are met. Assess, assume and manage risk with insight and discipline, which encompasses reviewing and analyzing private M&A transaction documents, sale and purchase agreements, financial statements, management presentations and due diligence reports, preparing coverage and pricing proposals as well as proposing bespoke Representation and Warranty insurance terms and pricing. Contribute to overall team objectives with marketing/development initiatives as required. Building and managing relationships with insurance brokers. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful completion of a university level curriculum and/or equivalent work experience.Work experience or demonstrated interest in M&A, Transactional Risk, Insurance or Financial Services is considered an asset. Exceptional oral and written communication skills required.Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet software and the ability to create, organize, and analyze data.Ability to negotiate with commercially and legally sophisticated brokers, advisors and clients is considered an asset.Strong analytical ability to evaluate risks according to corporate underwriting guidelines.Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting financial statements within a professional or academic environment.Provide innovative and creative solutions to develop new opportunities.Naturally curious and extremely detail oriented.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment is essential.Organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and deal-time pressures.
