The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
DescriptionAssesses risks and makes recommendations for underwriting decisions with support and guidance from leadership as needed, while developing underwriting skills and building critical internal and external relationships.
If the selected candidate is within 50 miles of Boston, MA office, in-office requirement is twice a week.
Responsibilities
Focuses on building relationships with key external parties (brokers, agents).Manages portfolio of brokers/agents in parts of GRS where complexity and line size differ little between policies.Develops underwriting skills and builds relationships with internal stakeholders and partners (e.g., UW Support, Claims, Actuarial, Directors of Underwriting in GRS North America, etc.), using understanding of how these teams work together to inform underwriting decisions.Continues building underwriting expertise using both internal and external resources.Executes - and may contribute to - marketing plans. Contributes to team projects (e.g., process / tool improvement).May contribute to the analysis of team`s portfolio. May manage the quality of data within relevant systems for the book of business that the team is responsible for underwriting. May provide on-the-job support for new hires. Qualifications Degree in Business or equivalent typically requiredAt least 1 year, typically 1.5 or more years, of underwriting experience and/or other related business experienceActively pursuing professional insurance designationsAbility to successfully develop and maintain effective internal and external relationshipsDemonstrated analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within defined authorityEffective communication and interpersonal skills required with ability to successfully develop and maintain productive producer/customer relationshipsWhen applicable, successful completion of certifications About Us
