Kforce has a client in search of a talented Underwriter (Junior and Mid Level) in Phoenix, AZ. Summary: Within defined guidelines and framework, the Underwriter reviews and underwrites consumer loan and credit card applications. The Underwriter applies understanding of established written risks and compliance policies, guidelines, and procedures and regulatory requirements when evaluating loan attributes. This role utilizes established procedures and guidelines to validate credit, income, and other relevant information to underwrite lower risk credit card and consumer loans within a lower defined limit of authority and to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Responsibilities: * Review applications to insure they are within specified criteria * Analyze income, assets, credit, real estate property appraisals, homeowner's insurance, mortgage and flood insurance, title commitments and loan conditions for approval to include loan credit decisions * Works under moderate supervision; Acquires and applies maturing knowledge of the business, its products, and processes * Uses established procedures and significant job experiences to perform moderately complex work assignments and problem resolution * Utilizes lending authority and mature understanding of all aspects of Mortgage and/or Home Equity underwriting and portfolio guidelines to underwrite moderately complex loan files * Reviews and evaluates credit applications to assess the loan package for approval of fraudulent activity and provides feedback to the Processors and Originators to improve the quality of the loan files * Handles moderately complex member escalations utilizing knowledge of specialized loan products * Maintains and applies maturing knowledge of Real Estate underwriting business and industry practices and adheres to established Service Level Objectives (SLOs)
