Underwriter - Primary Casualty

Make your mark in Primary Casualty Underwriting AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. How you will create an impact + This role will focus on underwriting new and renewal business to help drive the profitable growth of our Canadian primary casualty portfolio. + Communicate risk appetite and casualty value proposition to brokers. + Collaborate with distribution and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross selling opportunities from brokers. + Rapidly evaluate, prioritize, and select submissions to be underwritten. + Work with brokers to understand deal structures, terms, and AIG Services that best meets clients’ needs. + Negotiate pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structure with brokers and clients. + Participate in special underwriting projects as needed. + Develop strong, long-term relationships with brokers and clients to profitably grow a book of business. + Responsible for maintaining risk selection in adherence with product guidelines and for achieving rate, renewal retention and new business goals. + Ensuring all files are well documented and comply with departmental requirements. + Recognize and create cross selling opportunities for other AIG General Insurance products. + Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients. What you’ll need to succeed + Some experience in Commercial Casualty is preferred. + Bachelor’s degree from a college or university, preferred. + Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships. + knowledge of lines of business in a specific Casualty line of business including product features, forms, regulatory environments, and risks etc. (i.e. Environmental, Excess or Primary Casualty). + Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship building experience. + Very strong verbal and written communication skills. + Highly motivated and results-oriented. + Ability to work in dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to quickly deliver solutions. + Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job, and maintain a can-do attitude. + Excellent organizational and time management skills. + Comfort with analytical tools and technology. + A desire to stay up to date with industry, legal & regulatory trends.
