KEY OBJECTIVE:
As a key member of the commercial underwriting department, this individual is responsible for independently managing a diverse portfolio of Commercial Property & Casualty business with a focus on Retention, Account Rounding, New Business, Renewal Change and Profit goals while establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with assigned brokers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gather and analyze account information and make underwriting recommendations and decisions. Risk selection, coverage negotiation and pricing adequacy on new or renewal business. Contribute to differentiated Customer Retention and Sales results. Identify prospects or account rounding opportunities and actively manage and pursue Develop and maintain strong business relationships with brokers and key clients. Develop customer-centric renewal strategies that align with the Company’s financial goals. Collaborate with team members and contribute to an engaging work environment. Handle individual risk inquiries/correspondence from brokers and make appropriate decisions. Monitor booking, retention, account rounding, and renewal change accuracy. Contribute to projects to both improve the business and continually develop personal skills.QUALIFICATIONS:
University degree and/or equivalent insurance-related education and experience. 2 to 5 years of property and casualty underwriting experience is required (Commercial experience preferred). Experience underwriting in the energy space is an asset. Demonstrated analytical and risk underwriting skills. Strong oral and written communications skills. Strong organization and time management skills. High level of responsiveness and efficiency when working with stakeholders. Demonstrated track record of customer service orientation and proven ability to foster strong business relationships. Ability to work both independently and in a team environment in a multi-task environment.
