Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Underwriting Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the submission process, ensuring all required documentation is collected and processed accurately, and supporting the underwriting and policy issuance processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Receive RFP submissions in the Analyst Folder and determine if they are renewals or new business.
Log submissions into the Underwriting module and save all relevant documentation, including webpages, secured emails, and RFP documents.
Scrub submissions for required documents such as Census, Benefit Plan, Requested Terms, Current Terms, Large Claimant Information, and monthly Paid Claims. Request any missing documents.
Start the Work Up process once all documentation is provided, including manipulating Census data in Excel, importing Benefit Plan information, requested Terms, and Current Terms, and calculating monthly paid claims into a policy year total. Enter large claim information.
Submit completed cases to an Underwriter for review.
Process Sold Case Paperwork upon notification from the Underwriter that a case has been sold. This includes collecting documents from the Underwriting module, selling the Sold Proposal, moving over to the Policy module, checking the accuracy of the Proposal, and saving documents to the Policy module.
Select required documents based on a checklist, send them to the Producer for signatures, and receive signed documents. Check documents off from the checklist and attach them to the Policy module.
Check for a Variance in enrollment once Premium is received, complete the Checklist, and send the Policy to be issued.
Complete any mid-year changes TPA/BOR when necessary.
Education, Experience & Knowledge:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
Preferred 3+ years of experience in underwriting or a related role.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
