SummaryCHS in Myrtle Grove is looking for a Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright to join our team! The “A” Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright at CHS Inc. will be responsible for leading and performing the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all machinery and systems at the terminal. This is a hands-on role requiring extensive technical expertise in mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and leadership within a fast-paced environment. The Senior Millwright will mentor and oversee junior millwrights and maintenance staff, ensuring adherence to safety standards and industry best practices.
Responsibilities Lead the installation, alignment, and maintenance of mechanical equipment, such as conveyors, elevators, fans, and pumps, within the grain handling terminal.Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, ensuring minimum downtime of equipment.Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical failures, identifying root causes and recommending solutions.Conduct laser alignment of shafts, couplings, and motors to ensure correct geometry and minimize wear on rotating components.Oversee the maintenance and calibration of grain processing machinery and related equipment.Conduct regular inspections of machinery and equipment to identify potential issues and ensure optimal performance.Collaborate with other departments, including operations and safety, to ensure alignment of maintenance activities with terminal production goals.Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation for all repairs, inspections, and modifications.Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and standards, proactively identifying and mitigating potential hazards.Utilize precision tools, including laser alignment systems, dial calipers, and micrometers, to ensure precise installation, alignment, and calibration of machineryUse computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to create work orders.Minimum Qualifications (required) High school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a millwright, with a focus on grain handling, processing, or industrial maintenance.Strong knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems as they pertain to grain terminal operations.Deep understanding of materials handling equipment (grain elevators, conveyors, pneumatic systems, etc.), and the principles of efficient operation and repair.Proven experience in mechanical systems repair, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.Additional Qualifications A relevant technical diploma or trade certification (Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, etc.) is preferred.Proficiency in welding (MIG, TIG, Stick) and fabrication of mechanical parts and components.Strong attention to detail, with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematicsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in both team and individual settings with minimal supervision.Physical Requirements Considerable periods on feet including walking, standing, climbing stairs, and ladders.Will be required to lift, use tools, shovel, and sweep.Must be able to push, pull, and physically lift 50 lbs.Will be required to work while squatting, kneeling, or crawling.Must be able to work in noisy, dusty, and otherwise undesirable conditions.Work at heights up to 120 ft.Compensation DataSalary Range: $34.60
