PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
As an Ironworker Apprentice, your primary duties include marking, positioning, and securing structural steel members to reinforce concrete or building structures.
The base compensation range for this role is $23.73- $45.08 per hour.

KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
Setting up, flagging
Inspecting rigging properly
Running a site level
Checking-in truck deliveries against bill of lading when load arrives
Counting bars and bundles of rebar, dobies, and wire mesh
Directing forklift/crane to unload delivery truck
Shaking out rebar and distributing/organizing accordingly
Using pliers to tie rebar intersections with tie wire
Splicing mats or rebar sections together with short rebar dowels
Understanding building codes/requirements
Cutting excess rebar ends and miscellaneous pieces with gas cut saw or cutting torch
Installing mechanical rebar splices by bolting or welding ends together
Installing caps on vertical rebar dowels for safety
Installing rebar dowels into fresh concrete footings
Determining number, size, shape, and location of reinforcing rods from blueprints, sketches, or oral instructions
Bending steel rods with hand tools or rodbending machine
Reinforcing concrete with wire mesh
Ornamental Ironworker: Installing prefabricated ornamental ironwork
All other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to move levers, shift gears, depress pedals and maneuver steering wheel to operator equipment
Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, climb, and periodically lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, procedure manuals, and load charts
Knowledge of equipment and their uses
Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)
Strong teamwork orientation
Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
Ability to work independently

Education and Experience Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of three years related experience
Must have passed the Apprentice Aptitude Test
Must possess valid driver’s license
