Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, the Unit Clerk assists in the planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the activities in the nursing station by performing clerical and receptionist duties and maintaining the physical environment of the area,

Qualifications:

Required:

High school diploma Knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel and the ability to multi-task successfullyExcellent verbal communication, interpersonal and demonstrated writing skillsProven track record of compassionate care & superior service and a commitment to providing healthcare excellence

Preferred:

college degree preferred

Scheduling Requirements:

Shift: DayTime: 7am to 3pm Per Diem: Based on the needs of the department

Essential Functions:

Alerts nursing staff to new medical orders and test/procedural resultsAlways identify correct patient charts and reports before filing; verify that all information is correct and take corrective action when necessaryEnsures accuracy at all timesImplements all staffing policiesAssists nurses by picking up and delivering specimens, medications, charts, requisitions, etc., to different departments as requestedCalls in consultations within appropriate time frame, completes consult sheet and places on medical recordDemonstrates a thorough working knowledge of medical and pharmaceutical terminology; asks questions to clarify misunderstandingsDemonstrates the 4C s of Commitment, Compassion, Competence and Communication
