**Major/Essential Functions:**
+ Manages the Materials Processing unit within the Resources Management, Collections, Systems, and UX/Assessment Department of the University Libraries.
+ Plans, organize and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters.
+ Supervises Section Supervisors, Section Coordinators, and Library Associate levels staff in the Materials Processing unit. Responsible for planning and assessment of the unit’s work, efficiency, fiscal responsibility, technology and personnel development.
+ Annually reviews and evaluates current policies and procedures relating to areas of responsibility and develops or updates policies and procedures as needed.
+ Works cooperatively with the Library Systems Unit Librarians in the management of the Libraries Integrated Library Management System. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following activities: Assist with the implementation of software upgrades and new products; projects as defined; testing; assisting other staff by serving as a resource on system functions; training activities; creation and management policies and procedures.
+ Participates with other library staff in the administration of systems related to material processing including but not limited to OCLC, Ex Libris products such as ALMA, Ebsco GOBI and Ebsconet.
+ Serve on committees as necessary. Attend Library meetings, staff development workshops and University training class sessions as needed. Completes special projects as assigned.
+ Provides leadership in library vendor relations as it relates to the materials processing units and ensures that an ongoing relationship is maintained with all vendors.
+ Identifies assigned project needs cooperatively with other units within the library and oversees the appropriate assignment of staff. Initiates projects to implement new services/processes and works to oversee the staff training on these initiatives.
+ Responsible for managing a range of activities related to Acquisitions, Database Management, eBook Management, Inventory, Serials Maintenance, and Special Formats. This includes the review and approval of staff career ladder advancement plans.
+ Prepare management reports and other analysis reports as needed.
+ Supervises the operations of the materials processing units, including the staff responsible for ordering, paying, receiving library materials, and processing bibliographic materials in all formats.
+ Advises the Associate Dean for Resources Management, Collections, Systems, and UX/Assessment on materials processing issues. Sets annual objectives and evaluates the performance of each Section Supervisor and other Library Associates within the unit.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
+ Analytical skills and ability to communicate effectively with patrons, library staff, and faculty.
+ Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with others in a rapidly changing and demanding environment.
+ Three years of demonstrated supervisory experience including hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
+ Experience with managing budgets, planning, and project management.

+ Bachelor's degree in a work-related field.
+ Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions with an aptitude for complex and detailed work.
+ Demonstrated effective management skills, including communication, planning, organizing, and supervising.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
+ Experience with serials management and acquisition functions in an integrated library system.
+ Knowledge of OCLC, cataloging standards, and bibliographic control operations.
+ Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a team environment.
