CHA provides 24-hour emergency care at its Cambridge, and Everett Hospitals. We are one of the busiest emergency services in Massachusetts with approximately 100,000 combined annual visits and have been recognized nationally as one of the most efficient emergency services in the nation. Highlights include a state-of-the-art patient triage and tracking system, a streamlined admission process that helps us get the sickest patients to a hospital bed sooner, rapid assessment protocol to help prioritize our work, a BIDMC tele-stroke program, and an integrated Psychiatric Emergency Services at Cambridge Hospital.
The Emergency Department Unit Secretary assists with the flow of patients in the Emergency Department and will work as a partner with other members of ED staff. The Unit Secretary is responsible for answering phones, contacting consult services, interacting with patients, families, and other CHA staff; stocking supplies, preparing for computer downtime and other duties as assigned. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high stress area. Needs to be self-directed and personally responsible for the work that is done.
Qualifications/Experience:
High School graduate
Knowledge and comfort with electronic medical record, customer service experience and ability to work in a busy stressful environment.Needs to be self-directed and personally responsible for the work that is done.
Medical terminology and Emergency Department experience.
Previous Unit Secretary or administrative assistant experience strongly preferred.
Required to pass a physical agility exam.
