JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates department(s) activity and performs receptionist and clerical duties for patient care area(s).  Utilizes various software programs to facilitate efficient workflow.   Works under the direct supervisor of the RN, performs basic care activities.

JOB DUTIES

Actively demonstrates the organization’s mission and core values and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values. Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, and medical information.  Assignment will include support for multiple Units each shift. Designated as the “Revenue Lead”, additional responsibilities will include revenue reconciliation and charge-error correction as specified by departmental process and hospital policy. Ensures communication among care team.  Ensures proper call schedules are updated and information systems are available and working for all members of the care team. Completes and follows up on Work orders and nonfunctioning equipment. Coordinates patient care activities for ordered procedures using the appropriate information system. Uses appropriate information systems & software to assist with patient activities such as scheduling, meals, etc. Maintains an inventory of supplies in accordance with established levels, as well as special orders, and charges appropriately. Utilizes appropriate and recognized ordering systems. Stock copiers, nurse servers, all clerical supplies, labels.  Ensure Nursing has all necessary paperwork available for the care of the patient. Assists the Charge Nurse/Clinical supervisor in timely discharge of patients.  Stripping rooms and preparing the room for the next patient as appropriate.  Ensure all Admission information is provided to new patients. Focus on Patient throughput is a priority. Ensures all necessary new admission paperwork is complete and available for the Charge nurse/Clinical Supervisor.  Tear down discharged patients charts and appropriately prepare for medical records. Responsible for coordinating and monitoring electronic devices which may include laptop charging/storage, phones, logging calls to Resolution Center, and maintaining check in & out processes. Will be required to sit with 1:1 patient after training and competency.  This will be after all other avenues have been explored. Will answer call lights and provide basic assistance to the patients as trained and competent. Will not be assigned a team. Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

Education:  The level of knowledge ordinarily acquired through the completion of high school level courses.  Ability to read, write, and spell in English and perform simple arithmetic calculations

Licensure:  None.

Experience:  None required.

Other Job Requirements:   

Knowledge of medical terminology and computers preferred.
