SUMMARY

 As a Unit Secretary, you are an integral part of the nursing unit, which relies on your help to Uplift humanity through care for our community by creating a lasting first impression on a nursing unit - meeting and greeting patients, families and other healthcare team members.

STATUS:   Per Diem

LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital       

DEPARTMENT: Volunteer and Guest Services

SCHEDULE: Days - Sunday - Saturday - 8 Hour Shift Between 5AM - 8PM

ATTRIBUTES

Two years’ experience, in a healthcare or  customer service position(or similar) preferred Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact successfully with patients, families, and healthcare team membersDemonstrated experience with PC and software programsCompassion that embraces our Care like Family Values. RESPONSIBILITIES

Non-Clinical Patient Care & Service

Unit Administrative Duties

Answers telephone, routes calls and provides administrative support for nursing and physicians. Sort and distribute mail throughout the nursing unit.Assists with healthcare team member, physician, patient and visitor inquiries.Maintain patient flow for the Unit by verifying daily census list against actual censusNotifies bed coordination of known discharges, as they occurAssists in maintaining appropriate inventory and supply levels determined by unit.Creates work orders, HELPSTAR tickets and report any unit needs to environmental, engineering, injury prevention, to appropriate department.Daily rounding of patients on unit, updates whiteboards, conducts room surveys for potential harm, and ensures safety measures are in place.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
