Position Responsibilities:
· Cleans patient rooms after vaginal deliveries, separating/removing waste as per policy.
· Cleans operating rooms after each case and performs terminal cleaning as per policy.
· Transports specimens, using specimen logbook in a timely manner.
· Transports, discharges patients in a timely manner.
· Adheres to Standard Precautions in the performance of daily activities.
· Cleans wheelchairs after each patient use.
· Passes and picks up meal trays as requested.
· Monitors use of cleaning supplies, advises supervisor with reordering needs.
· Maintains linen cart organized, neat, and covered.
· Maintains cleanliness of patient pantry areas, lounges, restrooms, call rooms and offices daily.
· Is knowledgeable and adheres to infant abduction prevention program.
· Follows Bereavement policy. Transport body to the morgue and logs it in.
· Takes blood specimens as needed.
· During emergencies, makes themselves readily available to take specimens or obtain supplies as needed.
· Adheres to standard precautions in the performance of daily activities.
· Checks formula expiration dates and removes expired formula from the shelf.
· Monitors supplies for par levels and notifies nurse of low par levels.
· Cleans incubators and radiant warmers as per policy.
· Monitors and maintains supplies for handwashing in the unit as well as at the point of entry to the unit.
· Maintains cleanliness of patient areas, lounges, restrooms, breast pump rooms and offices daily.
· Monitors par levels of blankets and gowns and notifies linen services of low par levels.
· All other tasks as related to the position duties.
Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
· 1 year of experience within healthcare environment, preferably within Maternal/Child Units.
