Summary:
Duties include a clerical function which requires the ability to work under minimal supervision, carrying out general office duties in a fast-paced environment. Provides administrative support as directed by the department’s leadership team. Requires effective communication skills, functioning as the department’s receptionist who greets internal and external customers. Must possess the knowledge and skill to navigate complex electronic health record (EHR) and other computer systems. Demonstrates a workable knowledge of medical terminology. Maintains adequate unit supplies within the guidance of cost containment as outlined in organizational policies. Performs other clerical/non-professional services in caring for the needs of the patients, visitors, providers, and staff in the department.

Responsibilities:
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide real-time scanning of all paper documents to ensure the electronic chart is always as complete as possible for physician and other clinicians to review their patient rounding activities. Performs concurrent quality analysis review on all scanned documents. Acts as a resource and provides support for all clinicians. Demonstrates the ability to effectively manage appropriate transfer of medications from the Pneumatic Tube System to the designated health care worker per policy. Enters patient charges and ensures all patient charges have been received to enter. Maintains a complete electronic patient chart and companion paper chart per policy. Ensures appropriate management and documentation of cooling device monitor alarms per hospital policy. Handles communication for the organization when the hospital operators are off duty. Triages outside phone calls appropriately. Handles incoming patient related calls appropriately and effectively. Interacts with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers in a professional, empathetic manner. Greets, directs, and filters traffic from the reception work area. Performs various functions to support the clinical unit such as supplies, inventory control, manage unit telephone, monitor call light activity, and others as identified. Demonstrates the ability to understand and maintain office equipment to include, but not limited to, copy machine, telephone, facsimile, scanner, label and armband equipment, computers, printers. Maintains unit specific logs and reports. Develops and maintains an organized, readily accessible filing system. Performs all birth certificate functions (in area where applicable), accurately enters and submits required information to NE state birth registry program.Hours will be dependent on patient census and workload. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, to include after-hours and weekends as necessary.

EDUCATION:
GED or High School Diploma preferred.
EXPERIENCE:Previous customer service experience preferred.
Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required.
Ability to navigate various programs required.
KNOWLEDGE:
Clerical or medical terminology knowledge and experience preferred.
