University Associate, Disputes & Economics (Financial Services Advisory)

Practice Summary: The Financial Services Advisory practice focuses on assisting clients in Banking, Insurance, Capital Markets, FinTech and related industries. Our primary services are Business Strategy and Transformation (e.g., Strategic Cost Management, Organizational Design, Process Improvement / Automation) and Risk, Compliance, and Controls (e.g., Risk/Compliance Program Design & Assessment, Policies / Procedure Review & Development, Controls Assessment, Design, and Enhancement). A sample of diverse consulting engagements include: + Reducing a Retirement organization’s operating costs by $80m/yea + Executing a firmwide program to enhance a Bank’s processes and control + Optimizing and redesigning an Insurers claims function + Documenting a Bank’s obligations that arose from laws, rules, and regulatory requirements + Redesigning a Corporate Trust’s operating model Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Associates, working as part of a project team, perform critical, value-added work that can directly impact a client’s bottom line. Responsibilities include: + Interfacing with clients to gather data + Interviewing clients and reviewing documentation to understand current state processes + Documenting processes and controls and related risks + Identifying gaps and opportunities for improvements in processes and controls and related risks + Performing financial, accounting, economic, and statistical analyses + Documenting findings and telling a story in PPT + Managing project plans, action lists, issues and track and report on progress in status reports + Preparing client reports and exhibits + Presenting findings to the consulting team and clients Basic Qualifications, Skills, and Characteristics: + Completion of an undergraduate degree with a graduation date between December 2024 and June 2025 and a major in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other analytical course of study + Solid academic performance in their course of study with a 3.3 GPA or better + A working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint + Ability to work in a dynamic professional services environment + Ability to work well with teams + Research and analytical skills + Oral and written communication skills + Attention to detail + Independently problem solve + Demonstrate the highest degree of professionalism, ethics, quality, and integrity + Willingness to travel and work overtime when needed + Advanced technical skills including SQL, R, Python, or SAS are a plus + Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Colorado, or New York, or Washington D.C., Ankura is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the said markets and considers a broad range of factors including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. The range does not include additional benefits outside of salary. At Ankura, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each role.
