University Dean of Special Programs **POSITION DETAILS** The City University of New York (CUNY) is the nation’s largest urban public university, serving 215,000 degree-seeking students and 153,000 non-degree students across 25 campuses. The University Dean of Special Programs provides system-wide executive leadership for the Percy Ellis Sutton Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge (SEEK) and College Discovery (CD) programs. The Dean ensures compliance with federal, state, and city guidelines, supervises Central Office program staff, and collaborates with stakeholders across the University, including Admissions, Student Affairs, Student Success Programs, the Office of Graduate and Undergraduate Programming, the Office of Applied Research, Evaluation and Assessment, the Office of Career and Industry Partnerships, and Academic Advisement. The Dean works closely with the Student Success leadership teams throughout the University on the application of data and evidence-based planning, decision-making and assessments to ensure the implementation of optimal student success strategies, curricula, and co-curricula enhancements across CD and SEEK programs university-wide. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Faculty Affairs, the incumbent is a member of the office’s leadership team and also sits on the cabinet of the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: + Ensure SEEK and CD initiatives align with the University's mission and regulations. + Supervise Central Administration’s Office of Special Program’s (OSP) staff. + Routinely collaborate with Student Success Leadership teams across the University and in the Central Office to continually improve student success outcomes in CD and SEEK. + Lead annual program planning with evidence-based decision-making. + Ensure the implementation of optimal student success strategies, curricula, and co-curricular enhancements across CD and SEEK programs university-wide. + Provide professional development for program directors and staff. + Monitor and evaluate student performance outcomes across individual programs. + Support data-driven enhancements to academic and student services. + Review campus-based SEEK and CD strategic plans and program reports. + Refine funding formulas and campus budget allocations. + Enhance budget oversight with University offices. + Showcase achievements through strategic communications. + Oversee the Special Programs website. + Advocate for SEEK and CD programs to city and state legislators. + Manage orientation and mentoring programs for new directors and coordinators. + Represent the Office of Special Programs on University committees and external boards. + Act as the University’s liaison to the New York State Education Department. **NOTES:** 1. This role requires a minimum of four days per week onsite, with flexibility to work onsite up to five days as needed. 2. The incumbent must be able to travel to the main Central Office in Manhattan and other campuses as needed. **QUALIFICATIONS** Minimum: This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience. Additional qualifications are defined below by the College. Preferred: + PhD or equivalent. + Ten years of progressive management and supervisory experience in a large, diverse college/university environment. + Expertise with assessment tools, survey research methods, statistical and database management software. + Knowledge of national best practices for student success. + Experience in student recruitment and enrollment management. + Knowledge of best practices in academic and career advisement and student development. + Experience in scaling pilot projects. + Excellent organizational, quantitative, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills. + Experience in budget development and management, and staff training and development. **CUNY TITLE** Dean **COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS** The salary range is **$165,000 – $185,000** , commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience.
