Position Title: University Videographer and Editor
Department: Enrollment Management
Reports to: Executive Director of Content Strategy

Position Summary
The Videographer plays a pivotal role in capturing and producing compelling video content to tell the story of our institution, showcase student success, and support key initiatives, including recruitment, alumni engagement, fundraising, and institutional branding. This individual will oversee all aspects of video production, from concept development to post-production, while collaborating with campus partners to bring creative visions to life.
The ideal candidate is a highly skilled storyteller, technical expert, and creative thinker with a passion for higher education and a commitment to delivering visually impactful content.
Key Responsibilities
Video Production
Plan, shoot, and edit high-quality videos for a variety of platforms, including social media, websites, email campaigns, and events.Develop creative concepts, storyboards, and scripts in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals.Capture interviews, campus events, b-roll footage, and other video assets to support marketing and communication needs.Operate and maintain professional-grade cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and editing software.Pre-Production and Creative Planning
Collaborate with the marketing team and campus stakeholders to brainstorm ideas, set project timelines, and define project objectives.Scout locations and ensure all pre-production needs are met for a seamless shoot.Provide creative direction for video shoots, including styling, framing, and overall visual storytelling.Post-Production
Edit raw footage into polished videos, adding music, graphics, animations, and special effects as needed.Ensure brand consistency and visual alignment with the institution’s standards.Adapt videos for different platforms, optimizing formats and lengths for web, social media, and in-person presentations.Content Strategy and Collaboration
Work closely with marketing, admissions, and other departments to align video projects with institutional goals and campaigns.Assist in creating and maintaining a video content calendar to ensure regular, strategic content creation.Collaborate with student videographers or interns, providing mentorship and hands-on training as needed.Technical Maintenance and Innovation
Manage and maintain video production equipment, ensuring it is in excellent working condition.Stay updated on industry trends, video production techniques, and emerging technologies to continually elevate the institution’s video content.Other Duties as Assigned
Support livestreaming efforts for key events, such as commencement.Assist with photo and graphic content creation when necessary.Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in videography, film production, communications, or a related field.2+ years of professional experience in video production, including shooting, editing, and directing.Utilize the Adobe Creative Suite for image editing and manipulation along with proficiency in Premiere Pro and After Effects for video editing and motion graphics creationExperience with DSLR and mirrorless cameras, audio recording, and lighting setups.Strong storytelling and visual composition skills.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.Knowledge of video optimization for various platforms, including social media, web, and email.Preferred
Experience in higher education or nonprofit settings.Familiarity with motion graphics and animation software (e.g., Adobe After Effects).Experience in livestreaming technologies and platforms.Basic graphic design and photography skills.Drone experience is a plus.Key Competencies
