Job Description

The Data Center Systems Aggregation Team is responsible for managing Expeditors essential infrastructure. This infrastructure provides Expeditors the global connectivity, compute power, and storage to meet its growing demand to move freight. The Unix Administrator is responsible for the support, troubleshooting, installation, and deployment of UNIX based systems. The Unix Administrator assists and instructs regional staff to perform operating system updates, patching, installations, and troubleshooting.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Utilizing Infrastructure as Code best practices, develop, maintain, and enhance systems using Python, C, and bashPerform system builds and hardware upgrades for UNIX serversEnable & maintain system backups utilizing backup software and web-based monitoring toolsProvides tier 3 production support for servers and data storage including after-hours on-call supportDiagnose and isolate operating system, server-side networking, and application-related problems; create workarounds or conduct system and disk recovery as necessaryPerform hardware maintenance, repairs, & replacementsProvide recommendations to management through research and review of recent industry solutions in various UNIX related technologiesCreate documentation and training material; provide training to others

Qualifications10-15 Years of Experience in Unix System Administration.5+ years of Red Hat Linux experienceWorking experience in Solaris (Version 10 & 11)Ability to work collaboratively in an agile team environmentAbility to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervisionExcellent written and oral communication skillsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experienceExperience with automation frameworks & extensive programming/scripting experience (bash, C, Python)Experience using fiber attached storage in both SAN and point-to-point environmentsKnowledge of backup strategies and productsKnowledge of DTrace and other diagnostic toolsAn aptitude for methodical and comprehensive troubleshooting

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with Solaris and Solaris ZonesExperience with Cohesity or CommVault backup solutionsExperience with Ansible and Ansible AWXExpertise configuring and supporting Sun Volume Manager, Veritas Storage Foundation and ZFSExperience with cluster management software (VCS)Practiced in designing and implementing business continuity / disaster recovery and high availability plans
