Title: Unix Systems EngineerLocation: India
A Unix/Linux Systems Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the UNIX and Linux based environment. The Unix/Linux Engineering team provides expert level design and management of the Unix and Linux based systems. This team plays a critical role in providing services, support, and expertise to application owners throughout the organization.
ACCOUNTABILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
+ Ensure the optimal performance and reliability of the Unix and Linux Systems.
+ Identify and troubleshoot issues related to Unix and Linux operating systems in a timely manner.
+ Conduct expert level investigation and follow standards to resolve.
+ Communicate directly with vendor support when necessary.
+ Design and implement Disaster Recovery configurations for critical systems.
+ Automate common repeatable tasks.
+ Remediate security vulnerabilities and configuration issues in a timely manner.
+ Recommend and implement improvements for the environment.
+ Monitor capacity and provide forecast reports.
+ Ensure compliance of systems through existing standards and procedures. Identify gaps in compliance and remediate in a timely manner. Recommend changes to improve procedures.
+ Routinely work on multiple high priority projects and resolutions in parallel.
+ Provide technical leadership to the global team.
+ Work within the relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
+ Write advanced and complex scripts.
SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
+ Expert level experience with AIX and Red Hat Systems.
+ Expert level knowledge in file systems, volume management, mounts, and SAN/NAS storage in general.
+ Expert with IBM Power and/or Intel architectures
+ Red Hat Certified Specialist in any of the following: Virtualization, High Availability Clustering, OpenShift, Object Storage.
+ Ansible, Jenkins and other automation tools.
+ Kubernetes.
+ Experience writing and debugging shell scripts in a standard UNIX shell.
+ NIM and Satellite server.
+ Expert understanding of Source code repositories like Gitlab or GitHub.
+ Experience with CI/DC tools like Jenkins and Gitlab.
+ Experience with log and analysis tools.
+ Monitor and alert tools selection and management.
REQUIREMENT
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
+ 6 + Years of experience working in AIX/UNIX/Linux environments.
