Are you ready to join our team as a Laboratory Research Technician? As a member of our Distillation, Processing & Specialties Team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research and development projects in the heart of Richmond, California. Role Overview

Operate complex distillation and process laboratory equipment, including large and small reactors and distillation columns, at elevated temperatures and atmospheric and sub-atmospheric pressures. Participate in Safety Metrics and Operational Excellence initiatives, both individually and as part of your crew and business unit. Operate process units, utility systems, and related equipment under the direction of researchers and supervisors, ensuring proper inspection for safety and functionality. Provide support in sample handling activities for research and crude oil assay samples for both internal and external customers. Meet Safety/OE objectives and milestones.

Skills & Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED. 2+ years of experience in plant or lab operations, or equivalent mechanical background work. Experience with safely operating process equipment and instruments. Firm commitment to lab safety, Operational Excellence, and Human Organizational Performance. Strong mechanical aptitude. Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365, Excel, and Word software. Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with colleagues.

Education & Experience

Associate degree or equivalent in science, technology, mechanical/pipe fitting trade, or related field preferred. Refinery Operator Training (ROP) or P-Tech experience/attendance advantageous. Some knowledge of basic control instrumentation and electrical systems preferred. Experience working with chemicals, heavy oil, and distillate research or related materials preferred.

Pay & Benefits

Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience. Full-time contract position from 27-Apr-2025 to 03-Nov-2025. Full-time work schedule with rotating shifts (graveyard, days, and swing) Monday through Friday (9/80) with occasional weekend overtime (although rare, some overtime may be mandatory).
