RBC’s Office of the US CIO is responsible for the oversight of all technology supporting the firm’s Combined US Operations (CUSO). The CUSO includes Capital Markets, Wealth Management, City National Bank, RBC Bank (US), Global Asset Management, and Functions within the US.

The US IT Resilience and Stability Director role is accountable to the US CIO for overseeing the organization’s resilience and stability.  This hands-on role focuses on enhancing IT processes to proactively identify, manage, and mitigate operational risks to IT Stability and Resilience. By aligning with organizational objectives, the role ensures robust management of resilience and stability across internal operations and third-party dependencies. This role emphasizes disaster recovery readiness and effective management of cyber resilience. The role collaborates closely with stakeholders to ensure consistency across execution assurance activities supporting the CUSO, delivering governance, risk management, and value realization.

What will you do?

IT Resilience: Develop and refine governance mechanisms focused on IT and Cyber resilience. Ensure alignment processes with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Introduce continuous improvements to metrics, controls, and monitoring systems to address evolving risks.IT Stability and Operational Risk Remediation: Ensure that stability risks impacting IT and cyber resilience are effectively monitored and mitigated. Collaborate with internal teams to assess emerging risks and recommend improvements. Provide actionable insights on risk exposures and performance trends.  Disaster Recovery: Lead independent oversight of the organization’s disaster recovery programs, ensuring critical systems and infrastructure meet recovery objectives. Evaluate and enhance frameworks to align with governance and resilience goals.  Third Party Resilience Oversight: Ensure that a specialized and effective oversight mechanism focusing on third party resilience. Ensure alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. Provide ongoing enhancements to metrics, controls, and processes to address emerging risks.

What do you need to succeed?     
Must-have

10+ years’ experience in financial services industry in IT stability and resilience management. Expertise in driving resilience and stability through best practices, operational risk remediation, and compliance with industry regulations.Independent incident and process review expertise: Demonstrated ability to review key processes and incidents to identify gaps and recommend improvements for future resilience.Knowledge of supervisory expectations expressed in U.S Regulatory Obligations, Federal Reserve Supervisor Letters, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Bulletin.Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, IT service delivery, and risk and cybersecurity resilience processes. Experience in IT Asset Management, Service Continuity, Service configuration and Security Services.Solid verbal and written communication skills, proven organizational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.Ability to influence a diverse group of stakeholders and demonstrate strong collaboration skills across the organization.

Nice-to-have

Risk and Controls certification like ITIL, CISSP.Knowledge of risk management frameworks such as COBIT or NIST.

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $160,000 - $250,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
