Inviting applications for the role of Manager; US Escalation Transaction Monitoring Front Line Manager

In this role, you will lead a team of approximately ten people performing complex Transaction Monitoring (TM) investigations of alerts/cases, covering money laundering, terrorist financing and tax evasion risks. You will be accountable for the quality and timeliness of your team’s output. As a subject matter expert, you will provide quality checking, coaching and support, helping team members to develop and grow. Through your leadership, you will maintain high levels of engagement, strong team spirit and commitment to continuous improvement and quality.

Responsibilities

· Conduct investigative review and analysis in support of company’s BSA/AML regulatory compliance policies and program including investigating automated alerts from our transaction monitoring systems, and referrals sourced from law enforcement requests and other company lines of business.

· Analyse customer and transaction information to assess whether the alerted activity is or is not normal in the context of what is known about the customer and who they are transacting with, conducting additional background research as appropriate. Understand underlying ultimate originators and beneficiaries, their business/profile, geographies, and business sense of the transactions and relationships.

· Within the procedural framework, use your judgment based on your knowledge and experience to make risk-based decisions as to what is or is not normal and therefore whether to refer the alert or case for further investigation and reporting to authorities.

· Document your investigations thoroughly by recording the details of the alert, the data you have considered, the basis of your conclusion, and any evidence you have gathered that supports your conclusion.

· Maintain your primary focus on the quality and effectiveness of the investigation, whilst also ensuring that your work is completed in a timely fashion.

· Consult and collaborate with colleagues to develop your investigations and to help others with theirs, adopting and sharing best practices, techniques, and knowledge over time, with a focus on driving continuous improvement in both your investigations and that of the broader team.

· Give and take feedback constructively, actively supporting team continuous learning and development and training initiatives, driving continuous improvement in both your team and that of the broader organization.

· Maintain strong engagement in your team, actively supporting career development and progression, whilst striving to keep attrition rates below industry levels.

· Working with leadership and HR, support high performers through career progression and low performers with coaching and training as needed, managing consistent low performers out of the team, as appropriate.

· Conduct Quality Checks (QC) in a timely fashion on the output of other team members, following QC process and procedures, as required by the Team Lead.

· Qualifications we seek in you

Minimum Qualifications

· Experience working with Google Sheet, Google Doc, Excel, Word

· Flexible and adaptable to the evolving needs of a high-growth and fast paced organization environment

· Organized with a High level of attention to detail

· L1/L2: Minimum years of compliance experience

· Ability to conduct detailed investigations using Contractors and open sources to remediate compliance alerts and to independently research, analyse, and recommend solutions to close open items and discrepancies.

· Advanced Communication and Presentation skills

· Problem-solving and decision-making

Preferred Qualifications/ Skills

· Relevant work experience with experience in TM investigations, dealing with major Financial Institutions, Crypto Exchanges, and other payments providers, etc. preferably in reputable financial services organizations.

· Specific experience with cryptocurrency products as a user and / or experience working in the digital currency industry.

· Experience in using various risk case management systems Expert skills in conducting effective TM investigations, including in data and transaction analysis, research, and documentation.

· Developed understanding of the global financial system and banking as well as the regulatory environment and the impacts of non-compliance.

· Fluent in English, reading, and writing.

· Knowledge of Banking and FinTech’s, transaction types/flows, and financial crime risks.

· Professional certification for AML/KYC (CAMS, ICA, or equivalent) is a plus.
