What is the Opportunity?

The US GRM-Balance Sheet Risk (US GRM-BSR) group provides independent and effective on-site monitoring, controlling and communication on the nature and extent of all material liquidity risk and banking book market risk (non-trading market risk, interest rate risk in the banking book [IRRBB]) across RBC’s Combined US Operations (CUSO), which includes RBC’s US branches and agencies, RBC’s Intermediate Holding Company (RIHC) and its material entities: RBC Capital Markets LLC (CM LLC), City National Bank (CNB), RBC Bank Georgia, N.A. (RBC Bank). The group is relied on to ensure the implementation of and compliance with risk management policies and procedures.

The incumbent will report to the Governance Manager, GRM-Balance Sheet Risk in support of the oversight of liquidity and interest rate risk across RBC CUSO as part of the Group Risk Management (GRM) mandate and will develop and promote a “Best of Class” risk oversight environment.

What will you do?

Support the US BSLR Governance Manager in the following governance activities:

Develop board, committee and senior management reporting.

Set BSR risk committee meeting agendas, taking meeting minutes, and collect, validate and distribute meeting materials.

Work closely with secretaries of board and senior management committees across CUSO (RBC Group, IHC, CNB, RBC Bank, etc.) to set agendas, communicate and distribute materials to CUSO senior management, including risk reporting, new policies, amendments to existing policies, etc.

Prepare, present and steer governance materials and policy documents through the approval process with senior management and committees such as the CUSO Risk Management Committee (CUSO RMC), CUSO Liquidity Risk Committee (CUSO LRC), CUSO Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book Committee (CUSO IRRBB), CNB Market & Liquidity Risk Committee (CNB MLRC) and the Risk Committee of RBC U.S. Group Holdings, LLC.

Establish and maintain risk committee reporting best practices, perform risk assessments on the reporting inventory, and communicate these standards to senior management to ensure compliance with these standards.

Facilitate issue tracking and remediation guidance for liquidity and interest rate risk findings.

Facilitate closure of audit and/or regulatory findings as needed.

What do you need to succeed?

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law or other related fields

3+ years previous experience work in a Financial Services organization, preferably within Risk Management.

General knowledge of key risk disciplines e.g., enterprise, market, counterparty credit, liquidity risk and Operational Risk

Strong record of work experience in financial service industry with good exposure to operational processes, financial products, credit and/ or risk management activities

Knowledge of and experience with US bank regulations for liquidity, capital and interest rate risk management

Experience managing projects and initiatives for multiple stakeholders

Strong written and verbal communication skills required

In-depth knowledge of MS Office
