US Import/Export Analyst

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive US Import/Export Analyst to join our team. You will be responsible for preparing and reviewing US import/export documentation, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, and developing new audit processes to enhance our non-PO import/export operations. They will be responsible for being the process leader helping all US General Mills (GMI) locations manage their non-PO cross-border shipments. The US Import/Export Analyst will work closely with various departments, including logistics, legal, product development and our international GMI stakeholders, to ensure smooth and compliant export activities. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Prepare and review export documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, shipper’s letters of instruction and other required documentation. Review import documentation for accuracy and request amendments as needed. Determine proper commodity classifications, valuation, and country of origin/marking of products, equipment, and raw materials Ensure compliance with U.S. regulations, including EAR, ITAR, FDA, USDA/APHIS and other relevant laws. Conduct regular audits of processes and documentation to identify areas for improvement. Develop and implement new audit processes to enhance compliance and efficiency. Own Standard Operations Procedures and documentation for core processes as assigned. Collaborate with internal teams (sales, marketing, product development and engineering) and external partners to resolve cross-border-related issues and inquiries. Operational support of General Mills’ Global Sample program in partnership with the Logistics Team at our R&D Facility in Golden Valley, MN. Manage daily relationships with brokers and carriers to resolve problems at all points in transit. Stay updated on changes in US export/import regulations and trade policies that may affect operations. Assist in training staff on compliance and documentation best practices. Generate reports and analytics on export activities to inform decision-making. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in export/import compliance, logistics, or a related role. Strong understanding of US export/import regulations and compliance processes. Proficiency in preparing export documentation and familiarity with shipping procedures. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Organizational leadership and influence Project management experience Creative problem solving Managing through complexity and ambiguity Working understanding of International transaction components (inco Terms), experience with freight forwarders and carriers, and a basic understanding of Free Trade Programs. Salary Range The salary range for this position is $63600.00 - $87600.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
